Our Mold Damage Restoration Process
in 8 easy steps!
With a simple phone call, we will determine the extent of the mold cleanup and restoration process and schedule a technician to visit and assess the situation. Generally, we are available within two hours, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Once on-site, our technician will assess the severity of the mold and determine the proper mold cleanup method. The assessment will take into consideration the cause of the mold, which requires a home inspection and investigation of potential root causes. In some cases, an Industrial Hygienist is required or a certified mold inspector to test and determine mold spore counts and species of mold.
After a complete assessment, we will discuss containment methods to assure there is no risk of cross-contamination and will contain the affected area from any airborne mold spores getting into non-affected areas.
Once mold is determined to be present by visual inspection or testing, it is recommended to begin air filtration with a high-efficiency particulate air purifier. Our technicians will properly install the HEPA device in the affected and/or non-affected areas to minimize airborne mold spores.
After proper containment and HEPA filtration is in place, the technicians will begin the mold remediation process which normally includes a 4 step process (HEPA Vac, treat, clean and stain removal). Depending on the size and location of the mold area, this may take several hours to several days.
If it has been determined that cross-contamination has occurred prior to our mold remediation services, it may be required to clean contents from the rooms or areas that were affected. We will use the same basic mold remediation process on your contents making them safe for you and your family. In some cases, on porous surfaces, it may be more cost-effective and recommended to dispose of the item. Our technicians will walk you through each step of the process and advise you of any concerns.
In most cases, it is strongly recommended and often required to perform a mold post-test from a certified mold inspector. We ONLY use third-party inspectors as we believe it is a conflict of interest to test your own remediation. Our technicians will provide you with options on this part of the process.
In many cases during the mold remediation process, building materials are removed and disposed of (sheetrock, carpet, underlayment, insulation, etc.…). Our professional carpenters will replace and repair carpet, missing or damaged drywall or any other major repairs to bring the home back to pre-mold conditions.
